Thomas Tuchel has an “aura” that has made all the players buy into England’s World Cup dream. Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers says England boss Tuchel spelt out his plan to win the trophy and the whole squad believe they can do it.

Tuchel has been hired by the Football Association on an 18-month contract to lift the ultimate prize as England’s journey to the United States begins with this week’s World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia. Rogers said: “When I met him his aura and demeanour is hard to explain to describe but he has that level of confidence, that level of respect already.

“You can see the way he is, the way he acts. He has been so chilled and calm. But when it is time to work, it is time to work. That is the kind of vibe I have got off him from the day or so I have been here. It is really good so far. I am really enjoying it.

“You know what he has done in the game and the respect he has got from managers and players he has worked with. You know he is coming in with some serious ideas and it is about taking it on board and learning from it.

“The presence is a bit different. Certain managers have different ways about them. Certainly his aura is one I’ve not experienced before. That’s different to what I’ve faced before.”

Tuchel has already spelt out his methods to the players in team meetings - and has urged them all not to waste a single training session. Rogers added: “That’s the only goal he was very clear and transparent with what he wants to do, how he wants to do it, how he wants to go about it, what he sees in us, and what we need to improve.

“It was very straight-up, no cutting round corners. It was straight and that’s how he is. The best way to get information across is to be like that. It’s definitely been taken on board and it’s definitely a first message to carry us on and lead us on through the camps.”

The Villa star also revealed that Tuchel has already made it clear he wants his England charges to improve their game-management, pushing for his leaders to step up at crunch time.

Rogers said: “It’s a bit harder. You’re probably not as close as with your club, it’s not as day to day as at club level. That’s what he’s trying to build and it’s got to be accelerated because of the times you get together.

"But if we all know it’s got to be accelerated, we all know we can make a conscious effort to do it, it can be done. You see all the teams in the world that do win, they’ve got that, that continuity, that togetherness, and we want to build the same thing here and it starts now.

“The main thing I took from that was about the love and commitment he wants from us within, and how he wants us to be a family, how he wants us to be close and connected. How there are going to be good moments and bad moments, we all stick together.

“It’s the communication aspect. When momentum shifts in a game, we stick together. Just talking and being on that same page, that makes a massive difference when you’re playing. I know that first hand.”
