The Aaron Rodgers saga has taken another turn - and not in a good way for the four-time NFL MVP.
After winning just five games in his lone season as the starter for the New York Jets, Rodgers has reportedly hoped to join the Minnesota Vikings and their top flight offense.
That doesn't appear to be happening anymore, though.
And Tom Pelissero of NFL Network is the one to break the news to the public.
"The Vikings have rejected multiple trade calls on J.J. McCarthy, telling other teams they're moving forward with him as their quarterback, sources say," Pelissero tweeted out. "The team plans to add a veteran. But they're not pursuing Aaron Rodgers at this time. McCarthy now enters the offseason as QB1."
While Dianna Russini did later report that the Vikings were "neither in or out" on Rodgers, it's clear Minnesota is focusing their efforts on the former first-round pick of their own instead of signing a 41-year-old.
The Vikings news isn't great for Rodgers. His indecision and later reporting that he wanted to end up in Minnesota isn't great for the last two teams that are interested in him with the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants in the mix.

Rodgers has contemplated retirement outside of playing for either team. If it gets to a point where he continues to be indecisive, the Steelers and Giants could simply walk away from the negotiation altogether.
That would leave Rodgers with an ugly truth.
He didn't choose retirement. The NFL simply was sick of his waiting game.
