GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - When the NFL Draft comes to Green Bay, some local organizations will be competing to make a popular Wisconsin dish for football fans to sample.

Golden House and Grounded Cafe are two of the teams competing for the bragging rights of the best booyah in town.
“Booyah itself is always an exciting adventure for this area and for us to be able to participate in something and to also be a part of raising vital funding to be able to provide services is amazing as well,” says Meika Burnikel, the executive director of Golden House.
Burnikel says the battle will serve as a way to connect over food and raise awareness about domestic abuse with the community and its visitors. She says the proceeds from the ticket sales will support vital programs that help keep people safe.
“Unfortunately, there’s been a lot of cuts within victim services, and so these dollars will help support all of the services we provide,” says Burnikel.
Grounded Cafe volunteers and some customers have been working for weeks to perfect their booyah recipe.
Community dining manager Jeremy Slusarek says funding from the competition will allow the cafe to continue to train staff with different abilities.
“We are always trying to find ways to supplement our programs and purchase some new equipment. Our annual budget doesn’t always allow for that with sales we can cover our labor and things but to get equipment like adaptive aids and stuff like that,” says Slusarek.
Slusarek says his team is thrilled to share their take on the Wisconsin staple.
“It’s pretty incredible as a community to have this event you know with us being so small it’s a mega stage for us. We love everything about it. We’re anticipating big crowds throughout the entire region and we just want to be a part of that and hope people enjoy their stay with us we love Green Bay and want people to enjoy it with us,” says Slusarek.
The competition kicks off at 10 a.m. on April 25th and tickets for the event are $3.
