The Kansas City Chiefs are still fresh off of their blowout Super Bowl loss against the Philadelphia Eagles. Not only were they denied the chance to three-peat as champions, they were embarrassed in the loss as well.
During the offseason, the Chiefs have lost a few key pieces of last year's team. However, they were able to keep a couple as well.
Kansas City also added some outside talent, bringing in names like defensive tackle Jerry Tillery, quarterback Gardner Minshew, cornerback Kristian Fulton, running back Elijah Mitchell, and offensive tackle Jaylon Moore.
Joe Thuney was traded away. He has been a key part of the Chiefs' offense and protection for Patrick Mahomes.
One notable analyst believes that trading Thuney will be the start of the Kansas City dynasty unraveling.
During a recent segment of the "Herd with Colin Cowherd Show," Colin Cowherd revealed a very worrisome outlook for the Chiefs.
He thinks that there is a chance Kansas City could have trouble within its own division.
"I really worry about Kansas City. Joe Thuney is one of the more valuable offensive linemen in the league, left and they didn't want him to leave," Cowherd said. "They couldn't afford him. ... They're not going to go 11-0, and in one-score games. Raiders are better, Broncos will be better, the Chargers will be better. It never lasts forever."
While Cowherd sees a bleak outlook, fellow analyst Nick Wright disagreed with him.
"Was there a gun to Brett Veach's head when he called the Bears and traded him? They didn't lose Joe Thuney. They traded Joe Thuney," Wright said. "This is an annual tradition where you pick a new team to win the AFC West, and then midway through the year, you're like, ‘Yeah, I probably shouldn't have done that."
Thuney was shipped off to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a 2026 fourth round pick.
