Star veteran wideout Stefon Diggs remains a free agent after spending one season with the Houston Texans that ended too soon due to an ACL tear he endured on Oct. 27.
After posting 47 catches for 496 yards and four touchdowns in eight games for the Texans in 2024, Diggs is garnering interest from the New England Patriots according to The Athletic's Chad Graff.
"The Patriots and Diggs have not yet agreed to a contract, but if the visit goes well for the two sides, one could come soon," Graff writes.
New head coach Mike Vrabel made it clear last week that the Patriots are in pursuit of a wide receiver that can make an impact.
If the season were to start tomorrow, the Patriots' receiving corps would consist of Kayshon Boutte, Kendrick Bourne, Demario Douglas and Ja'Lynn Polk.
"We'll continue to target. Mack Hollins will be in here tomorrow. He's a wide receiver. But we'll continue to look at the wide receiver position as it relates to free agency, explore every option with other teams, and potentially then we'll get to the point where we're looking at the draft. There's just a lot of time, and I know that everybody is like, it's over in free agency. It's never over."
Diggs availability for training camp projects to be unlikely given his recovery timeline; infact, he may even miss the beginning of the season. Regardless, the Patriots are in dire need for help at the wide receiver position-last season, tight end Hunter Henry led the offense in receiving yards with 674.
