Steve Gregory is entering his second season with Vanderbilt football and first as defensive coordinator for the Commodores. On Monday, he joined Andrew Allegretta for Commodore Hour to discuss everything from his coaching philosophy to his journey as a collegiate and NFL player.
Gregory played at Syracuse before an eight-season NFL career with the Chargers and Patriots. He started his coaching career back at his alma mater as a graduate assistant, working with now-Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea, who was the Orange’s linebackers coach. The Brooklyn, New York, native then spent time in the NFL, coaching with the Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins, before reuniting with Lea in Nashville last year.
Commodore Hour airs every Monday at 6 p.m. on 102.5 The Game in Nashville, as hosts Allegretta and Kevin Ingram give you an inside look at Vanderbilt athletics. After it airs live, the program is also released as part of Vandy’s The Anchor podcast and is available through the Vanderbilt Athletics app.
The Commodores are underway with spring practices building up to the 2025 Black and Gold Spring Game at FirstBank Stadium on April 12 (1 p.m.).
The 2025 season opens on Aug. 30 when Charleson Southern travels to Nashville. Season tickets are now available and limited premium seating options remain in the new south end zone facility, which will debut this fall.
