Jazz Leap Wizards In Standings With Win
With Wednesday’s win, the Jazz jumped the Wizards in the standings, picking up their 16th win of the season.
The Jazz owned the worst record in the league entering the game, but now own a 16-54 record and are .008 percentage points ahead of the Wizards who sit at 15-53 on the season.
Though the victory doesn’t change the Jazz’s odds of landing a top-four pick int he June’s NBA Draft, it does alter how far they can fall in the lottery.
The team with the worst record in the NBA will have a 14 percent chance of landing the top overall pick, a 13.4 percent chance of drafting second, a 12.7 percent chance of selecting third, a 12 percent chance of picking fourth, and a 47.9 percent chance of drafting fifth.

While the team with the second-worst record shares the same 52.1 percent chance of landing a top-four pick, they have a 27.8 percent chance of drafting fifth and a 20 percent chance of falling to sixth.
With 12 games left on the season, the Jazz own the second-most difficult remaining schedule in the NBA.
The Wizards own the eighth-easiest with 14 games left to play.
Jazz Inching Toward West’s Worst Record
Despite their victory, the Jazz still sit a full 2.0 games back of the Charlotte Hornets who own the third-worst record in the league at 17-51, and 3.0 games back of the New Orleans Pelicans who own a record of 19-51.
The Pelicans shocked the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday winning on the road 119-115.

The win is a double-whammy for the Jazz who are now extremely unlikely to catch the Pelicans in the standings, while the Timberwolves, who own the Jazz their 2025 first-round, dropped to the eighth-seed in the Western Conference playoff race.
If the postseason began today, the Timberwolves would face the Los Angeles Clippers on the road needing a win to advance out of the Play-In Tournament.
If the Timberwolves fail to win a game in the Play-In Tournament, the Jazz would inherit a second lottery pick.
Young Players Shine Against Wizards
The Jazz downed the Wizards behind strong play from most of the team’s first and second-year players.
In addition to his 21 points, Filipowski added four rebounds and three assists.
Isaiah Collier also had a strong outing, recording 16 points, six assists, and four steals on an efficient 7-10 shooting performance.

Keyonte George added 20 points and four assists off the bench on 7-12 shooting, while Brice Sensabaugh chipped in 17 points, 14 of which came after halftime.
“The part that I liked the most was Keyonte’s ball pressure, Isaiah’s ball pressure, [and] Cody [Williams] guarding on the perimeter,” Jazz coach Will Hardy said. “I think that’s a step in the right direction for us defensively.”
Williams had the quietest night of the Jazz young core recording just two points on 1-7 shooting.
