We round up the biggest new Premier League transfer rumours, with news from Newcastle, Man Utd, Chelsea and more.
It’s time for Thursday’s round-up of the biggest (and boldest) new Premier League transfer rumours, and we’re kicking today’s rumour-mongering off up in a jubilant Newcastle – just in case the Geordies need more to cheer about, they could be getting a new winger.
According to TBR Football, Eddie Howe’s side have “joined the race” for Villarreal and Spain winger Yeremy Pino, and are “doing work on a deal” that they hope will be struck this summer.
Arsenal and Aston Villa are the other clubs mentioned as being keen on the 22-year-old, who has one goal and four assists in 24 La Liga games this season and could be ready to move on after breaking into the Yellow Submarine’s starting side around four years ago. Apparently, Pino has a release clause worth €80m (£67m), but it’s not clear whether his club are willing to negotiate that down.
The 3AM Verdict: Pino can play on either wing, although he’s naturally right-footed, which may make him an awkward fit for Howe’s scheme if the plan is for him to replace Miguel Almirón on the right. He’s an electric player, however - even if his finishing leaves something to be desired, he can chew defenders up and spit them out on his day.
Chelsea could lose talented England player
There’s one wide forward that Chelsea would almost certainly be thrilled to sell to AC Milan this summer – but it’s actually Noni Madueke that the Italian outfit are keen to sign, according to a new report from Fichajes.
It seems that Chelsea “hasn’t ruled out his departure”, with the report hinting that financial considerations could encourage them to sell the 23-year-old England international if the offer was big enough. Milan, however, are said to favour an initial loan deal for a player who has become their “priority” despite his current injury.
No offer has been made as yet, and there’s nothing concrete happening with Milan “waiting for negotiations to progress” – not that their appears to be any negotiations or progress as yet.
The 3AM Verdict: Milan will be welcome to João Félix, we imagine, but we very much doubt that Chelsea would contemplate selling Madueke unless a massive offer came in – and Milan don’t usually splash that kind of cash. It’s worth remembering that Fichajes do not, quite frankly, have a reputation for accuracy with their transfer rumours. We’re taking this with a pinch of salt.
Big teams queuing up for £76m starlet
We’ll wrap things up today with a story from TeamTalk, which suggests that Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City are all interested in a summer deal for Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz – with United supposedly already making “initial contact” over a move.
The Old Lady are supposedly “willing to cash in” on the 19-year-old Turkey international, who is regarded as being among Europe’s brightest attacking prospects but who hasn’t been a regular in Thiago Motta’s team in recent weeks – despite which, they supposedly value him at a whopping €90m (£76m).
If United do make a move, it would be in addition to signing a central striker like Victor Osimhen or Hugo Ekitike, the report suggests – Yildiz can play as a number nine but is also happy to operate on the left wing.
The 3AM Verdict: In truth, we really doubt that anyone is paying £76m for Yildiz, who is talented but not yet a consistently productive player at the highest level – not that it would be the first time that United have spent big on a player who isn’t entirely proven yet. We don’t doubt that the four teams mentioned are keeping a watching brief, but wouldn’t be at all surprised if he stayed in Serie A this summer.
