The San Antonio Spurs came in to their Wednesday night matchup against the New York Knicks and handled business against the Eastern Conference's third seed. The Spurs came out swinging, resulting in a 120-105 victory.
Karl-Anthony Towns opened the game scoring the New York Knicks' first nine points, meanwhile the Spurs deployed a balanced, fast paced attack that granted them a hot start and a lead they would not relinquish.
The Spurs surrendered 32 points to Towns, who was the Knicks' leading scorer. Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, Miles McBride, Mitchell Robinson and Cameron Payne all had double figures for the Knicks, but none of them topped the 14 point mark set by Bridges and Payne.
For the Spurs, it was Sandro Mamukelashvili who led the way. Mamukelashvili had 34 points, none rebounds, three assists and one steal in just 19 minutes of action. Mamukelashvili made 13-of-14 field goals and all seven of his three-point tries.
Stephon Castle continued his strong Rookie of the Year campaign, scoring 22 points, with three rebounds, three assists, and a steal and a block in the victory. All five Spurs starters (Castle, Jeremy Sochan, Harrison Barnes, Chris Paul, Devin Vassell) scored in double figures.
Paul and Bismack Biyombo formed a formidable veteran pick-and-roll duo that gave the Knicks trouble in the first quarter. Paul made four consecutive baskets for the Spurs during a 10-2 run working off of Biyombo's screens. Paul gave the big man props after each basket, as the veteran pick-and-roll battery begins to develop some chemistry together.

The Spurs, in this lopsided upset, held the Knicks to under 30 percent from beyond the arc, while they knocked down 45.7 percent of their three-point looks. The Spurs shot 50 percent from the field compared to the Knicks' 42.4 percent.
The Spurs delivered the Knicks a rare loss in the rebound department, outworking them n the glass 52-44. Keldon Johnson had 10 rebounds off the bench, the team's leading rebounder, only being outdone by Mitchell Robinson's 11 on the other side.
With the win, the Spurs move to 29-39. The Spurs play next on Friday, hosting the Philadelphia 76ers before embarking on a three-game road trip.
