In Alexander Isak, Newcastle United boast one of the best strikers in world football.
Isak scored what proved to be the winning goal as Newcastle United changed the story at the football club by winning the Carabao Cup.
Newcastle beat Liverpool 2-1 at Wembley and had the superstar Swede to thank, with Isak sweeping home a fine second-half finish to put significant daylight between them and the Reds.
It has been a remarkable season for the 25-year-old. In 33 games across all competitions, he has scored 23 times while registering five assists and of course winning a trophy along the way.
As such, Isak has been hailed as “world-class”. Indeed, it’s difficult to think of a better striker around at the moment.
Much has been made about his future at St James’ Park. Newcastle know they could get huge money for Isak, although there is little suggestion they will ever look to cash in. Why would they?
Either way, the former Real Sociedad star is certainly likely to be a man in demand. With that in mind, it’s interesting to have a look at the most recently updated Transfermarkt valuations.

Alexander Isak ranked as seventh-most valuable Premier League player
Such has been the level of his form this season, their data has driven Isak’s valuation up to £84million.
Previously, the Swede had been valued at £71million, which represents quite the upgrade.
However, Transfermarkt rate six Premier League players ahead of Isak, as you can see below.
Player Club Transfermarkt valuation
Erling Haaland Man City £168m
Bukayo Saka Arsenal £126m
Cole Palmer Chelsea £109m
Phil Foden Man City £109m
Rodri Man City £109m
Declan Rice Arsenal £92m
Alexander Isak Newcastle £84m
Martin Odegaard Arsenal £84m
Alexis Mac Allister Liverpool £75.6m
Luis Diaz Liverpool £71.4m
Transfermarkt’s updated Premier League player valuations
While certainly good players, it’s hard to see some of them attracting the kind of money Isak would. He has been in fine form this season and plays in the most in-demand role in football.
Cole Palmer and Erling Haaland are fantastic players but are on much longer-term deals at some of the richest clubs in the world, teams seemingly not as restricted by PSR rules as Newcastle.
Palmer, Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice all have the ‘English Tax’ on their heads, which is a theory suggesting English players generally cost more.
The rest of the names are not to be overlooked of course but surely few teams would pay record-breaking money to sign them. Rodri is perhaps the exception but the idea of him leaving Manchester City seems remote at best.
Alexander Isak’s Newcastle United salary
Isak is reportedly earning around £120k per week at Newcastle, which is currently the fourth-highest in the squad.
However, all of that could change soon.
Newcastle are ready to offer Isak a stunning £200k-per-week to stay at the club long-term, which would make him the highest-paid player at the club.
Signing arguably the world’s best striker on current form to a new deal straight after winning the Carabao Cup and potentially qualifying for the Champions League would be some statement of intent.
Isak has shown little indication he wants to leave Newcastle but clearly needs to be paid in line with his status in the game. It’s only natural to want that.
If Newcastle can get the deal over the line, it’ll be the best signing they could possibly make this summer.
