Report: Wolves fans will fear the worst as Premier League rivals launch £29m to sign ‘quality’…

Wolves aren’t safe from relegation in the Premier League but some of their best players are attracting attention ahead of the summer.

Wolves chances of avoiding relegation were handed a huge boost on the weekend after beating Southampton 2-1 while Leicester City and Ipswich Town both lost.

Vitor Pereira’s men are now nine points clear of the bottom three, and with fixtures against West Ham and Ipswich to come, the Old Gold could soon confirm their Premier League status for 2025/26.

Unfortunately, while Pereira has done an excellent job since arriving in November, the form of his players has alerted some top clubs.

Matheus Cunha is the one fielding the most interest while one of his teammates has been subjected to a bid.

Tottenham launch bid for Rayan Ait-Nouri

According to Africa Foot, Tottenham have launched a €35m (£29m) bid for Wolves wing-back Rayan Ait-Nouri ahead of the summer transfer window.

Tottenham are the most likely candidates to sign the Algerian, although they are joined in the race for his signature by West Ham and Liverpool, who have long-term interest in Ait-Nouri.

The 23-year-old has been one of the Premier League’s best wing-backs in 2024/25, recording three goals and five assists – the joint-second most goal involvements of any defender.

So, his importance to Pereira should reflect his value, and the bid from Spurs falls way underneath what Wolves value their defender at.

It’s been reported previously that Wolves want in the region of £50 million for Ait-Nouri, and that accurately reflect his current talent and potential to improve.

Where Ait-Nouri ranks among Europe’s best defenders

At some point in the past year, the Algerian international has attracted several clubs, with even Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea showing an admiration for his talents.

As highlighted by FBref, the statistics across the past year when compared some of Europe’s best defenders explain why he’s a sought after talent.

Ait-Nouri, who has been dubbed ‘quality’, ranks in the top 11% for defenders for non-penalty goals per 90 and the top 2% for successful take-ons, evincing his quality as an attacking outlet.

The exciting left wing-back has also improved the defensive side of his game, placing in the top 10% of defenders for tackles per game.

FBref likens Ait-Nouri to Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies, arguably one of the best full-backs on the planet.

Should the Wolves man reach the ceiling of his potential, he can compete at Europe’s top table, which is why a move to Tottenham shouldn’t appeal to him.
