On March 17, 2025, Ambassador Liu Yantao met with Mr. Yiannis Tsouloftas, Chairman of Limassol District Local Government Organization (DLGO), where they hadan in-depthexchange ofviews on subnational cooperation and other issues of shared interest.
Ambassador Liu congratulated Chairman Tsouloftas on taking the new post. Liu said that China and Cyprus are good friends and partners, and the two countries firmly support each other on issues concerning each other’s core interests and major concerns. Subnational cooperation is an important part of the China-Cyprus strategic partnership. The Chinese side is ready to work with the Limassol District to explore cooperation potential, consolidate friendship, and promote in-depth and practical exchanges between local governments of China and Cyprus.
Tsouloftas said that firmly adhering to the one-China policy is the consensus among all sectors of Cyprus. Limassol admires China’s modernization achievements. The DLGO is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with the Chinese side, so as to further cement the friendship between the two countries at the subnational level.
