Ex-Derby County manager has 'admirers' at Premier League club

Southampton are considering former Derby County coach Liam Rosenior as the man to guide them back to the Premier League.

That’s according to talkSPORT who say the relegation-bound Saints ‘are keeping tabs’ on Rosenior in the highly likely event they replace Ivan Juric.

The Croatian succeeded Russell Martin with Southampton struggling after promotion to the Premier League and has won just two of his 14 games.

With the St Mary’s outfit on just nine points from their 29 games they are assessing their managerial options for next season and are claimed to have Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl at the top of their list.

However, the report says Rosenior also has ‘ admirers among the hierarchy’ after guiding Strasbourg to seventh in Ligue 1. He has done so after steering Hull City to seventh in the Championship before being let go.

Rosenior came to Pride Park in 2019 as part of Phillip Cocu’s back room team, he was promoted to assistant manger when Wayne Rooney replaced the Dutchman and then spent three months as interim manager before being allowed to leave after Paul Warne was appointed.
