Manchester United are reportedly eyeing up a move for Borussia Dortmund star Felix Nmecha as Ruben Amorim prepares to strengthen his midfield in the summer.

United are understood to be keen on overhauling the squad at Old Trafford after a disappointing season. The Red Devils are on course to record their worst-ever Premier League finish but fortunes have looked better in recent weeks.

A number of positions require attention in the transfer market, including a new striker and central midfielder. Since Amorim arrived in England, a host of names have been tipped to move to the club and that list is only extending.

Now, Dortmund's Nmecha is the latest midfielder to be linked. German publication BILD have suggested that United have placed attention on Germany and are 'chasing' a deal for the midfielder.

Dortmund, like United, are on course to miss out on Champions League football next season and as a result, may be forced to sell some of their star players. Nmecha is said to be valued at £40million with his versatility to play as a defensive midfielder and further forward a key factor in Dortmund's thinking.

BILD report that Dortmund view the Germany international as one of their most important players for the future. Players like Gregor Kobel, Jamie Gittens and Karim Adeyimi could all be allowed to leave instead to keep the 24-year-old at the Signal Iduna Park.

Nmecha came through the Manchester City academy alongside brother Lukas, as well as United winger Jadon Sancho. Nmecha and Sancho also played together at Dortmund. Nmecha left City in 2021 to join Wolfsburg before moving to Dortmund.

Sancho is on loan at Chelsea and the Stamford Bridge club have an obligation to make his stay permanent if they finish above 14th in the Premier League. But Chelsea are considering paying a penalty fee to get out of that clause with the 24-year-old having struggled for form.
