With his ultimately game-winning goal against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final, Alexander Isak further cemented himself as THE asset player in the Premier League right now.

Despite being contracted to the club until at least 2028 however, this hasn’t stopped a numbers of outlets and journalists linking the Swede with a move away from Tyneside in the summer.

Setting the record straight, Isak recently spoke to Swedish media addressing the rumours surrounding a supposed exit…

Swedish media speak to Isak

---------------------------

Speaking to Swedish outlet [Fotbollskanal](https://x.com/fotbollskanal), Alexander Isak has once again taken questions about his future at Newcastle and, once again, said how happy he is at the club.

“There’s not much to say, really. I’ve commented on my situation and my security in Newcastle several times.”

“It’s been written how much I love the city and the club, how well I feel there. I’m not thinking about the future.”

“I just want to perform for Newcastle. Now we won the cup, but we want to finish strong and reach the Champions League games. That’s where my focus lies.”

In the form of his career and with 58 goals in 100 appearances for the club, such assuring comments from Isak can only extend the jubilant mood many are still feeling after Sunday’s cup final win.

Isak on “incredible” Wembley scenes

-----------------------------------

Broadcast pundits Gary Neville and Micah Richards both remarked at the amazing scenes at the weekend, likening the rapturous travelling Toon Army at Wembley to England’s fans in the EURO 2020 win over Germany. And Isak thought no differently.

“Things like that can’t be described. I think you can only ‘imagine’ how it feels. But it’s an incredible feeling.”

“Wembley packed with all the Newcastle fans there. I’m looking forward to seeing what Newcastle is like as a city after that. I haven’t been back yet.”

“I think that’s what meant the most to me about this. Almost every fan I checked in on was crying. 70 years… that’s a long time. So that’s what means the most to me, when I see how much it means to people.”

On rumours of a contract extension

----------------------------------

Alongside rumours of a potential departure, there have also been recent rumblings that Newcastle could handsomely reward Isak in future contract negotiations.

Similarly however, Isak has put down any talks of these rumours, insisting that the only focus he has at the moment is himself and the team around him.

“(On contract negotiations) It’s the same there really. There is a lot of writing outside but within the club no one is talking about anything like that.”

“There is no reason for me to think about anything else (other than Newcastle). I feel incredibly comfortable at Newcastle. The only focus I have is on playing.”

On Thierry Henry comparisons and praise

---------------------------------------

The no.14 squad number. The prolific goalscoring. The iconic celebrations. It’s obvious to see why so many football fans have likened Isak to the legendary Thierry Henry.

After the Carabao Cup final, Isak was lavished with praise by the Frenchman, but the former Sociedad striker has taken this praise in his stride and toned down any comparisons.

“I can’t stand next to Thierry Henry and say I look like him. That would be really cocky.”

“I understand the hype and all the writing. It’s part of the sport and that’s how it is when you perform well. Personally, I try to take it easy.”

“It was actually really cool to stand next to him. I think we’ve all seen their (CBS) studio. It’s entertaining. So it was fun to stand there.”
