Lille striker Jonathan David says he is keen on playing in La Liga, despite claims that Arsenal are hoping to snap him up on a free transfer.
Speaking to the It’s Called Soccer! podcast (quotes via The Mirror), the Canadian international said a move to Spain is something he is keen to do, but he hasn’t ruled out joining clubs in other countries:

“I grew up watching a lot of La Liga. I wouldn’t say that would be my preferred league, but it’s a league I enjoyed watching more so [than others]. One day, I would like to play there. But will that happen? I don’t know. I’m not opposed to anything. We’ll see where the future takes us.”
David is out of contract at the end of the season and he will be in high demand, having scored 23 goals in all competitions for Lille this campaign.
Who are the favourites to sign David?
Based on reports in the Catalan media, it appears as if the forward’s preferred destination is Barcelona but the La Liga side have yet to signal their interest in the player.
West Ham have held extensive talks with David’s agent, having even invited him to watch their game against Newcastle earlier this month.
Liverpool are known to be keen, while the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham, Juventus, Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain could also enter the mix
Arsenal are prioritising other strikers
While the opportunity to sign a player of David’s calibre on a free will be tempting, the Gunners are still thought to be focused on recruiting alternatives.
Newcastle’s Alexander Isak and RB Leizpig’s Benjamin Sesko are regarded as the club’s two top targets. Of course, both will cost considerably more than David.
Isak is valued in excess of £100m while Sesko’s reported buyout fee stands at around £67m.
