'We'll just see': 23-goal Man Utd striker target coy on potential transfer after being quizzed by Gary Neville

Manchester United saw Rasmus Hojlund end his goal drought against Leicester City but a new sinker is surely on the summer radar.

Ruben Amorim has seen Manchester United score seven goals in the last two games, beating Real Sociedad 4-1 and Leicester City 3-0.

Goals have been a problem for United this season but fans were at least given some entertainment over the last week.

Rasmus Hojlund ended his goal drought against Leicester having gone 21 games without a goal for United.

The Dane will hopefully build momentum now but United would still be wise to add another striker this summer.

Joshua Zirkzee is showing quality as a number 10 and Chido Obi is still raw, so another forward will surely be on the radar.

Manchester United target Jonathan David on his future

Reports this week suggest that United want to sign Hugo Ekitike with the Eintracht Frankfurt star shining in front of goal.

Ekitike will cost around £67million though and Ineos may prefer to look for some bargain additions instead.

Reports from January suggested that United are interested in signing Jonathan David with the striker poised to leave Lille this summer.

The Canadian is out of contract at the end of the season and looks likely to move on in search of the next step in his career.

David has now commented on his future having been quizzed by United legend Gary Neville on The Overlap US.

David wouldn’t be drawn on specific clubs he would like to join, but admitted that he would love to play in La Liga having grown up loving Spanish football.

Spain may be the priority but David claims that is open to all potential avenues and will see what the future holds.

“To be honest, I think I can adapt to every league,” said David.

“Obviously, every league has their differences; I think the Premier League is a lot faster and more physical than the other leagues. But, me, always when I grew up, I grew up watching a lot of La Liga.

“That would be my preferred league, but I think that’s the league I enjoyed watching the most, so I think – one day – I would like to play there but will that happen? I don’t know.

“I’m not opposed to anything, we’ll just see where the future takes us,” he added.

Jonathan David appealing to Manchester United

David’s status as a free agent is certainly attractive.

Signing strikers tends to be expensive business and David could be signed for a fraction of the price somebody such as Ekitike would cost.

Agent fees and signing-on fees will be hefty as a result but David would certainly still fit into the United budget this summer.

David has racked up 23 goals in all competitions this season whilst also bagging 10 assists for Lille.

United will be looking closely at David’s record though as nine of his goals have come from the penalty spot this season and he is unlikely to be taking those duties from Bruno Fernandes at Old Trafford.

United aren’t alone in looking at David’s situation ahead of the summer window but he is bound to be one of the most in-demand free agents on the market and won’t be short of offers.
