Tottenham fans will enjoy what Lucas Bergvall said about Pep Guardiola praise

Lucas Bergvall has been speaking to the Swedish press about the praise he received from Pep Guardiola this season, and the Tottenham midfielder’s response is very revealing.

Bergvall certainly found life at Tottenham Hotspur difficult in the first few months of the season after making the move from Allsvenskan last summer.

However, even the teenager would not have dreamed of what has followed over the last few months as not only has he been able to force himself into Tottenham’s starting eleven, but has become one of the most important players in the side.

The fact that he has been rested alongside the likes of Heung-min Son ahead of Tottenham’s big Europa League matches is a demonstration of the 19-year-old’s value to the team.

It is not just Spurs fans who are singing the Swede’s praises, with the youngster also being praised by influential voices in the game.

Pep Guardiola described Bergvall as ‘unstoppable’ following Man City’s 1-0 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but the Spurs man is not getting the praise to his head and remains focused on continuing to improve.

When asked about Guardiola’s words of praise, Bergvall told SVT Sport: “Of course it’s fun, but in the big picture it doesn’t really matter. I just try to play football and develop all the time and help the team. It’s always fun to get praise and you should take it in. But I try not to put too much emphasis on it.”

Bergvall shows his maturity with his latest message to Spurs fans

The midfielder’s response to the question about Guardiola shows that he has a level head on his shoulders, but this is not the first time this week that he has demonstrated his maturity.

There was a bit of a fallout between the Tottenham players and fans following the club’s 2-0 loss at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

Bergvall responded by sending a touching message to the supporters on social media, with the youngster admitting that the performance was not good enough.

The teenager wrote: “We know that this is not good enough. We will come back stronger after the break. Thank you for the support as always.”
