SINGAPORE - A man has claimed trial for three charges of driving while on drugs, after a Singaporean boy died and two others were [injured in an accident involving his lorry](https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/sporean-child-7-dies-in-johor-car-accident-lorry-driver-tests-positive-for-meth).
The man, I Muniandy @ Ang Ah Leang, 57, pleaded not guilty, in a court in Johor Bahru on March 20, to driving under the influence of drugs and causing the death of Mohamad Noah Saliqin Mohamad Khairuz, 7, Malaysian news agency Bernama reported.
He also pleaded not guilty to two charges of driving while on drugs, causing injuries to two other people - Mr Mohamad Khairuz Bahrawi, 44, and Ms Lina Yulianti, 38.
The boy died in the hospital in the early hours of March 17, after the car he was in collided with a Malaysia-registered lorry at about 10.10pm on March 16.
The accident happened in Jalan Pantai heading towards Permas Jaya, according to earlier reports.
The boy was thrown out of the vehicle following the collision, according to the police then. He was among four passengers in the car.
The lorry driver later tested positive for methamphetamine, according to earlier reports.
The court bail was set at RM4,000 (S$1,205) per charge.
The accused was ordered to surrender his passport. His licence is suspended until the case is concluded.
In addition, he must report to the nearest police station once a month, and must not contact the victims.
If convicted of the charge involving the death of the boy, the accused may be jailed between 10 and 15 years and fined between RM50,000 and RM100,000, among other penalties.
If convicted of the other two charges, he faces for each charge seven to 10 years jail and a fine of between RM30,000 and RM50,000, among other penalties.
