BOSTON, MA (WFSB) - The Boston Celtics have been sold in what reports described as the largest sale for a sports franchise in North America.
Bill Chisholm, a managing partner at Symphony Technology Group, agreed to buy the team, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The Boston Celtics' sale of $6.1 billion surpasses the NFL's Washington Commanders ($6.05 billion) for the highest sum ever for a North America sports team. https://t.co/YYFCjU2O9b

Charania cited ESPN sources that said Chisholm agreed to purchase the Celtics from the Grousbeck family for a value of $6.1 billion.
Charania also said that the Celtics' sale surpasses that of the NFL’s Washington Commanders, which was $6.05 billion.
The Commanders previously had the highest sum ever for a North America sports team.
Celtics ownership announced its intentions to sell the team last summer, following the franchise’s record 18th NBA championship.
The team is poised to make a run at another title this spring.
The Grousbeck’s purchased the Celtics for $360 million in 2022, Charania reported.
