Legendary Patriots teammate is a fan of TV Tom Brady: ‘I’m so proud of him’

When it comes to his work as a broadcaster, Tom Brady has his critics. However, it’s pretty clear he has Rob Gronkowski in his corner.

The former New England Patriots tight end spoke to On3 about Brady’s jump to broadcasting and said that the former quarterback has made major strides.

“He’s doing an excellent job and I’m so proud of him,” Gronkowski said to On3. “He has definitely improved as well since his first couple games, which is understandable. I mean, it’s such a tough job to do, there’s so much pressure on you. You never called a game ever, for that long in your life, to be up in that booth and break down plays like that.”

Gronkowski and Brady both work at Fox these days, making them teammates in a way. Gronkowski mostly does studio analysis while Brady is the network’s No. 1 color commentator. The two occasionally work together on TV in certain segments.

The TE-QB duo won three Super Bowls together with the Patriots and a fourth with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Super Bowls were one thing. These days, Brady is facing the gargantuan task of jumping into the deep end of the broadcasting pool. He went from not working in media at all to Fox’s No. 1 broadcast team -- and even called the Super Bowl last month.

There have been some bumps along the way for Brady. However, Gronkowski says that he expects his old teammate to get better the longer he works at it.

“I expect nothing less from Tom Brady as well, to get better, because he loves to practice good habits, he loves to get better, he’ll do anything it takes to get better,” Gronkowski said to On3. “And just to see his improvement from week one to where he is in the playoffs now, is just tremendous, didn’t expect anything less. And he’s doing such a great job in the playoffs, it’s like he’s a veteran now.”

Brady is set to return to Fox for his second season as a broadcaster this fall. In additional to calling games, Brady is a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.
