Internationals | Pierre on target for England Under-17s

Jhanaie Pierre stepped off the bench to score for England Under-17s, but it was enough as Finland ran out 3-1 winners in the final game of their UEFA U17 Euro qualifying campaign.

The young forward was introduced just after the hour mark, replacing Eva Hendle, with the Young Lionesses already 2-0 down at the point before Martta Orava added a third for Finland in the 68th-minute.

Looking to make an impact in her cameo from the bench, Jhanaie managed to pull a goal back for her nation with three minutes left on the clock as she latched on to a cross from the right to guide her effort into the bottom corner.

However, it was too little, too late for Remi Allen’s side, as it saw Finland leapfrog England in the qualifying group and, ultimately, sees them miss out on a spot in this summer’s UEFA U17 Euro Finals.

Defender Zara Bailey, who [scored and captained in her previous appearance for the Under-17s](https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2025/march/spurs-women-bailey-captains-and-scores-in-victory-for-england-under-17s/), returned to the starting XI for England after missing the 4-1 defeat to the Netherlands earlier in the week and completed the full 90 minutes.
