Leicester City stalwart 'open' to Champions League transfer

Leicester City may be in for a big loss in the summer after rumours that veteran midfielder Wilfred Ndidi could be set for a summer move if the Foxes' go down.

The Nigerian international has been a staple in the Leicester side since joining from Genk way back in 2017. In the past eight years, the defensive midfielder has picked up 295 appearances clocking up 18 goals and 21 assists in the blue shirt.

Ndidi has provided stability in the squad being a part of good times and the bad including playing in competitions from the Champions league to the Championship, but soon the 28-year-old's time in England could come to an end.

That's according to Turkish-Football.com who claim another stint in the second tier isn't something the midfielder is keen on that he is 'open' to the prospect of Champions League football at Galatasaray.

The Istanbul-based side expressed interest in Ndidi last summer but failed to get a move over the line, but now with the Foxes' facing another relegation the outlet is reporting that he could be keen on another crack at Champions League football - with their interest remaining. They claim he is 'prepared to explore alternative options'.

Once being worth £50 million, Ndidi is now currently valued at around £15 million according to TransferMarkt, with a couple of more seasons left on his contract.

Despite the entire Leicester side showing some shaky performances this season, the Turkish side are said to be particularly impressed with the Nigerian's performances last season as he played a vital role in their Championship-winning side.

Galatasaray tend to start with defensive midfielders, a position Ndidi could provide some solid depth too, although will face tough competition with two slots currently taken by former Arsenal and Uruguayan international Lucas Torreira and former Norwich City star Gabriel Sara.
