Man Utd 'put eight players up for sale' as Ruben Amorim raises funds for England starlet

Manchester United are actively looking to offload at least seven players to back Ruben Amorim with a blockbuster summer transfer window, according to reports. Amorim needs funds to reshape the mediocre squad he inherited from Erik ten Hag in November, which could spark a ruthless exodus of players who didn't fit in his plans.

United are planning without Victor Lindelof and Christian Eriksen, who are both set to leave as free agents upon the expiry of their contracts alongside Tom Heaton and Jonny Evans. According to Standard Sport, Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo, Antony, and Marcus Rashford are being lined up to follow them out the exit door before next season. The latter duo will be free to leave after their respective loan spells at Real Betis and Aston Villa, who have a £40million option to buy Rashford.

Casemiro will have one year left on his £350,000-a-week contract, which United are said to be keen to remove from the books.

Meanwhile, it's claimed that the Red Devils value Mainoo at £70m, which would represent pure profit in the battle to comply with PSR because he's a homegrown player.

The report adds that Amorim is desperate for new signings ahead of his first full campaign at the helm, with Sunderland midfielder Jobe Bellingham among his targets.

The 19-year-old, brother of Real Madrid and England star Jude Bellingham, has become a crucial player at the Stadium of Light over the last two seasons.

With Sunderland chasing Premier League promotion, success in doing so would strengthen their negotiating position, given Bellingham is under contract until 2028.

However, the England Under-21 international, who joined from Birmingham City in 2023, is reportedly attracting heavyweight interest.

And if Sunderland don't go up, they would be vulnerable to a potential exit, with Brentford, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur also believed to be in the frame.

Amorim is thought to prioritise recruiting a new striker to provide competition for Rasmus Hojlund amid United's goalscoring woes.

Another attacking arrival in the form of a winger or advanced midfielder more suited as one of Amorim's two No. 10s than his current options should be on the agenda.

The Old Trafford giants will also require further reinforcements in central defence, with Lindelof and Evans departing and Harry Maguire nearing the end of his deal.

Amorim will want a natural right-wing-back, too, after addressing the left side of his complex 3-4-3 system with Lecce's Patrick Dorgu in January.

However, finances are tight, and the need to offload players to make space can't be understated.
