Liverpool finally broke their Real Madrid hoodoo this season with a convincing 2-0 win at Anfield in December.
The Reds had been knocked out by Los Blancos in each of their last three appearances in the Champions League, but got a small measure of revenge this term.
Having been beaten by PSG in the last-16, Liverpool know they at least cannot face Real in the competition again this season. Small mercies.
Nevertheless, there is still a lingering feeling of resignation that despite being bettered on the pitch this term, Madrid are still going to have the last laugh over the Reds.
As his contract edges ever closer towards its end, Rousing The Kop have been informed that Liverpool are privately accepting that Trent Alexander-Arnold is going to leave.
With Madrid his most likely destination, Real superstar Kylian Mbappe has already given his verdict on Liverpool’s No.66.

Kylian Mbappe hailed ‘amazing’ Trent Alexander-Arnold
Some at Liverpool will still retain a faint hope that Alexander-Arnold is staying. But we think it’s fairly clear what is happening by now.
Trent will instead link up with the likes of Mbappe and Jude Bellingham at Real as he looks towards the next chapter of his career.
MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES
Back in 2020, the Scouser was still loving life at his boyhood club, and there were constant murmurings that Mbappe was going to join Liverpool from PSG.

Those whisperings were emphasised when, in January 2020, Mbappe hailed Alexander-Arnold after seeing him copy his celebration after a big Boxing Day goal against Leicester City.
“I saw that! I’m proud,” the Frenchman said via the Liverpool ECHO when asked if he saw Trent’s tribute. “This guy is amazing.”
Alexander-Arnold nearing Real Madrid move
At one stage, it really had felt like a possibility that Mbappe could be on the way to Anfield. Looking back, though, he was always destined for Real Madrid.
In time, perhaps the same will come to be said of Alexander-Arnold, who now looks all-but certain to leave Liverpool.
According to a report from Spanish outlet AS on Wednesday, his signing is now ‘99% done.’ It’s claimed that only a ‘sudden change of direction’ will stop him from leaving and that is not expected to happen.
Given that he is currently injured, it is an incredibly disappointing end to Alexander-Arnold’s time with Liverpool and the right-back can not complain if he’s on the receiving end of some harsh treatment from supporters.
Hopefully linking up with Mbappe and co will be worth the lifetime of disappointment from fans of his home town club.
