Jordan Pickford has a curious relationship with Newcastle United fans.
The Toon Army absolutely love booing Jordan Pickford, while the former Sunderland player loves being the pantomime villain.
There is always a bit of back and forth whenever Pickford plays against Newcastle United. That was certainly the case when Pickford saved Anthony Gordon’s penalty at Goodison Park earlier in the season.
The England goalkeeper is yet to visit Tyneside this season, with Everton set to face the Magpies at St James’ Park in the last game of the 2024/25 campaign.

Jordan Pickford does not pick St James’ Park as his favourite away ground
By the time that game arrives, Newcastle could still be competing to qualify for the Champions League. But no matter what the scenario is, the Toon Army will take time to berate Everton’s number one.
Pickford knows what will be coming his way, and he has made a comment about Newcastle United fans during an interview with Sky Sports’ YouTube channel.
He was asked to name his favourite away ground out of Villa Park, Anfield, St James’ Park and Old Trafford.
“Obviously, St. James’ Park, the atmosphere towards me is on another scale,” he said.

“But for me, I think Old Trafford.”
How Jordan Pickford reacted to Newcastle United winning the Carabao Cup
When Pickford comes up against Newcastle United in May, he will be coming up against the 2025 Carabao Cup winners.
That will be painful for the goalkeeper, given the fact he is a Sunderland fan.
That was summed up when he arrived for England duty on Monday and was asked by the media team what he had done the night before.
“Watched the game,” he said in an incredibly reluctant manner. He then had a very sheepish look on his face.
Pickford was quickly reminded of Newcastle’s success, and those reminders will continue for the duration of the international break. After all, he is part of an England squad that includes three Newcastle United players in Dan Burn, Anthony Gordon and Tino Livramento.
