Georgia’s Asa Newell Predicted to Join $244 Million Superstar in NBA Mock Draft

Georgia Bulldogs fans will love the latest NBA mock draft predictions for Asa Newell as March Madness tips off. ESPN's Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo have Newell as their No. 14 ranked NBA prospect who is participating in the NCAA Tournament.

Heading into March Madness, Newell is averaging 15.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and a block while shooting 29.9% from the three-point line. Newell is the best NBA product to come out of Athens, Ga., since Anthony Edwards.

Now, there is a chance the two Dawgs legends could team up with Newell being a likely candidate to enter the 2025 NBA draft.

The Athletic's Sam Vecenie's latest NBA mock draft has the Minnesota Timberwolves selecting Newell with the No. 17 pick.

"He's somewhere in the 6-9 to 6-10 range and has been wildly productive this year," Vecenie wrote on Wednesday. "He's averaging 15.3 points and seven rebounds while playing consistently hard every single night. His motor has been terrific this season, and he shows possessions of real switchability on the perimeter defensively.

Asa Newell has been in his BAG this year, and his teammates had high praise for him! - Will Asa end up being a top 5 pick in the NBA Draft?? #CBB#NCAA#SEC#UGApic.twitter.com/J81SuG9IKT

"He rotates across the play and blocks shots well, too. There's just a lot to work with and develop, although scouts do wonder if he's a bit of a tweener positionally," Vecenie continued.

"Is he going to be able to develop enough skill to play power forward? Or will he be strong enough to play center? It's a real question, because right now he's not quite either at the NBA level."

I love this defense from Asa Newell. This is the type of stuff we saw from him more at Montverde. Even if he doesn't end up as more of a 5, I think he has all the tools to be a really versatile and switchable defender. pic.twitter.com/PWJRSMgKcT

Edwards is the face of the Minnesota franchise with a five-year, $244 million contract that extends through the 2028-29 NBA season. Dawgs fans could soon be even more interested in T-Wolves games if this prediction comes true.
