According to Chronicle Live, Manchester City star Jack Grealish could be open to a move to Newcastle United in the summer after falling out of favour under Pep Guardiola.
Newcastle could have a huge summer transfer window as they look to push on in the Premier League and on the European stage after securing their first major trophy in 70 years.
The Magpies are out in Dubai on a hot-weather training camp following their victory at Wembley Stadium and will be back on Tyneside for their trophy parade next weekend ahead of the business end of the season.
Newcastle are currently sixth in the Premier League with ten games left to play and are only two points shy of Chelsea in fourth so there is a huge opportunity to qualify for Champions League football at the end of the season.
Indeed, the North East giants have already secured Conference League qualification due to their Carabao Cup victory, but taking their journey in Europe to the next level would be the cherry on top of an incredible campaign.
The summer will give Newcastle a chance to reinvest and refresh the squad, adding depth to crucial areas and improving upon their current crop, giving them a better chance to compete on all fronts when they add European football to their schedule.
Following Sunday’s success, it is now being reported that Manchester City star Jack Grealish would be open to a move to Tyneside this summer, as he attempts to find first team football away from the blue side of Manchester.
Chronicle Live claim the treble-winner – who has fallen down the ranks under Pep Guardiola – is looking to revive his impressive career and believes that Newcastle would be a great opportunity for him to do so.
The forgotten England international believes that Eddie Howe has the management style to get him back on track as he attempts to turn the head of Thomas Tuchel to get back into the international side ahead of the World Cup in 2026.
Should Newcastle sign Jack Grealish?
There is no doubt that Grealish is a proven winner playing a crucial role in Man City’s treble-winning season, but since then he has struggled to reach the same highs and could be a risk to bet on for Newcastle.
Indeed, he would bring a wealth of Premier League and European experience into the Tyneside dressing room and if he could get back to the levels we have seen in the past, would be a huge asset to Newcastle when they’re battling with fixture congestion.
The 29-year-old – hailed a “fighter” by Guardiola – currently earns £300k-per-week which would significantly higher than Newcastle would be willing to pay for his services, especially considering he would need to compete with the likes of Anthony Gordon, Joe Willock and Harvey Barnes to play a part in the first-team.
With that being said, it seems like an unrealistic move for the Magpies given their focus on youth development and their priorities lying in filling the vacancies in other areas of the pitch – for example on the right wing and in defence.
