High Myopes and Capsular Tension Rings—To Be or Not To Be?

From their debut, capsular tension rings (CTRs) have been extolled for their role in the management of cataract surgery complications, particularly where zonular weakness or dehiscence is present. More recently, their use during routine surgery to improve intraocular lens (IOL) stability has been of particular interest; however, a consensus over their efficacy remains yet to be reached—a lack of agreement that may be due at least in part to the variable study parameters and eyes in which they were used.
