‘Somewhere I want to be’ – Leeds United loanee eyeing permanent stay with Premier League club

Leeds United loanee Jack Harrison has made it clear he wants to stay with Everton beyond the end of his current loan.

Leeds United saw a whole host of players move on from the club after relegation to the Championship. LUFC had inserted exit clauses in the contracts of many and several stars headed out on loan as a result.

Among them was winger Jack Harrison, who is now in his second season on loan with Premier League side Everton.

The 2024/25 campaign has been a tougher one for the 28-year-old having scored only once in 25 outings. That goal came in the 1-1 draw with Wolves earlier this month.

However, having returned to the Everton starting XI and with excitement building over the future, the Leeds United loan man is keen on staying with the Toffees for good.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo about his loan today and visions for the future, Harrison made it clear that Everton is somewhere he wants to be, indicating an LUFC career revival is not on his radar. He said:

“I think with new ownership, new manager, and going to an amazing new stadium next season, this is somewhere I want to be.

“It would be exciting to be part of a bigger picture and help a club get from where we have been for the past couple of years to fighting for European football again, and then even more in the way of silverware.

“With the size of Everton and this fan base, with how passionate they are, there’s no reason why the club can’t achieve that, and who wouldn’t want to be part of it?”

Free to leave LUFC?

While it remains to be seen what the rest of this season holds for both Leeds United and Harrison, it feels highly likely that the winger moves on from Elland Road for good this summer.

The former Manchester City youngster might be under contract with the Whites until 2028, but it would be a real surprise if his career in Yorkshire was revived. He was a solid servant in both the Championship and Premier League and has been on the books for a long time.

However, it feels a comeback would only come to fruition if LUFC were promoted, and to do so without playing a part in the bid to get back there, his return might not exactly be welcomed with opened arms.

The last of those who jumped ship

Many of those to departed Leeds United after relegation have moved out on permanent deals since. Rasmus Kristensen is set to stay at loan club Eintracht Frankfurt.

Brenden Aaronson has come back into the first-team and his workrate has earned him some real credit, but a downward turn in his creativity and attacking output means an upgrade will likely be sought regardless of how this season ends.

With Harrison now eyeing a permanent stay at Everton, LUFC wouldn’t have many of their recent loan army left in the ranks.
