Rumours linking Chelsea defender Levi Colwill to Liverpool will just not go away, suggesting that their interest in him is real.
Liverpool fear that Chelsea will not sell Colwill to them this summer, but it does not look like the Blues’ stance has stopped them from asking the question.
The Stamford Bridge faithful, however, do not need to worry about losing him in the next transfer window.
There are at least a couple of good reasons why the centre-back will not join Chelsea‘s rivals in the summer.

Contract length
In the past, Chelsea have had to sell players after they entered the final year of their contract, while the Blues have also lost members of their first-team squad on free transfers.
With Colwill, though, the club are not going to find themselves in a similar situation any time soon.
The Englishman signed a six-year contract back in 2023, with Chelsea having the option to extend it by a further 12 months.
All in all, Colwill is valued very highly at Stamford Bridge. After signing his contract extension, co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley told Chelsea’s official website: “Levi is an outstanding player who has risen to every challenge in his career so far. We are thrilled he will remain at Chelsea for years to come.

“His journey from academy to first team is testament to his talent, dedication, and determination. Everyone at the club is now looking forward to watching him thrive at Stamford Bridge in the seasons ahead.”
The 22-year-old is not the perfect centre-half yet. Gary Cahill recently questioned Colwill’s defending for Arsenal’s sole goal against Chelsea last weekend.
But the Blues will not want to sell him to Liverpool and are not in a position where they have to either.

Prospect of becoming Chelsea captain
From Colwill’s perspective, the England international will also want to stay at Chelsea as long as he keeps on getting minutes.
The Blues are his boyhood club and he could get the chance to captain them one day.
According to TBR Football, Liverpool have enquired about signing Colwill, but Chelsea are not entertaining the advances of their Premier League rivals, viewing their academy product as a future captain.
Enzo Maresca has already praised Colwill for showing leadership qualities in the current campaign.
“I can see the leader day by day, since we started in pre-season, something that he can improve in terms of leadership. He is improving a lot,” Maresca said in January. “Levi, even if he is not wearing the armband, he is one of the captains and in the future, he could be a captain of this club. Since we started, he is improving a lot.”
It would be an utter shock if Arne Slot and Liverpool managed to get their hands on Colwill this summer, a Chelsea captain in the making.
