Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has admitted he is curious about the prospect of playing in Brazil, as his contract with the Gunners nears its expiration in June. The Italian international, who was born in Brazil but has never played professionally in his home country, spoke candidly about his interest in experiencing Brazilian football before the end of his career.
### **Jorginho’s Curiosity About Playing in Brazil**
Despite never featuring in Brazilian club football, Jorginho expressed that he doesn’t feel like he missed out on anything. However, the midfielder remains intrigued by the idea of testing himself in his homeland.
“I don’t believe that I missed out. But I am curious, today, to know what it’s like \[to play in Brazil\], to experience it,” Jorginho said via _Coluna Do Fla._
The 32-year-old emphasized that playing in Brazil as a child had a significant impact on his development, even though his professional career took him to Italy at a young age.

“But for my growth, playing professionally was not a problem. What helped me was when I was a child, for my growth. In Brazil, it’s different. I played barefoot on the street, on the beach. I think that helped me a lot in terms of growing up in contact with the ball,” he added.
### **Uncertain Future at Arsenal**
Jorginho’s comments come at a time when his future at Arsenal remains uncertain. His current contract with the North London club is set to expire in June, and there has been no official confirmation regarding an extension.
Since joining Arsenal from Chelsea in January 2023, Jorginho has played a crucial role in Mikel Arteta’s squad, providing experience and composure in midfield. However, with the Gunners looking to refresh their squad in the summer, it remains to be seen whether they will offer the Italian international a new deal.
If Jorginho does not extend his stay at Arsenal, a move to Brazil could become a serious possibility, especially if he is keen on experiencing the football culture in his home country. Brazilian clubs have a history of bringing back experienced players from Europe, and Jorginho’s technical ability would make him a valuable asset in the Brazilian Serie A.
### **What’s Next for Jorginho?**
At this stage, Jorginho’s priority is likely to focus on Arsenal’s final stretch of the season, with the club fighting for success in both the Premier League and the Champions League. However, as the summer approaches, discussions regarding his next move will intensify.
If Arsenal opts against renewing his contract, Jorginho could have multiple options, including a return to Italy, a move to MLS, or even fulfilling his curiosity by playing in Brazil.
For now, the midfielder remains a key part of Arteta’s squad, but his recent comments suggest that a new chapter in his career could be on the horizon.
