Manchester United, Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal and Real Madrid have all been linked to the Premier League defender.
Manchester United are currently in the process of drawing up a shortlist of transfer targets for the summer window, as they aim to build a squad that fits Ruben Amorim’s style of football.
However, they do still have a chance at silverware in the Portuguese manager’s first season, as they are in the quarter-finals of the Europa League. It will be their only shot at qualifying for Europe next season, as they are 13th in the Premier League.
If they do manage to win the Europa League and get a spot in the Champions League, they could be in the competition with an unlikely English side, as Bournemouth have been challenging for a European spot.
The Cherries have seen some stand-out performances this season, including from a defender who has reportedly attracted interest from United are they aim to build that squad to fit Amorim.
Manchester United target in “contact” with rivals
The Bournemouth defender in question that the Red Devils have been linked with is Milos Kerkez, who has thrived under Andoni Iraola this season.
Kerkez, 21, has made 29 Premier League appearances for Bournemouth, scoring five goals and providing four assists this year. His impressive outings have attracted the attention of several Premier League rivals, including Liverpool.
The latter already have a connection to the defender, as Kerkez signed for Bournemouth under the supervision of now-Liverpool Sporting Director, Richard Hughes, who was working at the Vitality Stadium at the time.
According to a fresh report by the i News, Liverpool have made contact with Kerkez’ representatives, trying to get ahead of the likes of United, Man City and Arsenal who are also reportedly keen.
The report says that Bournemouth won’t be willing to sell the defender for less than £40 million, after they signed him for nearly £15m in July 2023. The report also says that Anfield is the preferred destination of the Hungarian, with one of the reasons being due to Hughes’ position as the Reds’ Sporting Director.
It seems that if United want to get a deal done for the left-back, they will have to act fast, as Liverpool have already managed to get themselves significantly ahead in the race for Kerkez.
Kerkez’s Bournemouth teammate also linked to United
Kerkez isn’t the only player that has been generating interest thanks to Bournemouth’s impressive season in the Premier League this year.
His defensive teammate Dean Huijsen has also taken up column inches regarding transfer interest from the likes of United, Arsenal and Real Madrid.
Huijsen signed for Bournemouth from Juventus in the summer transfer window for just under £13 million. However, due to him being just 19, and heavily impressing at centre-back this season, reports have said that they wouldn’t accept anything less than £50m for his signature.
Huijsen also recently received his first international call-up for the Spanish squad. He’s made 27 appearances for the Cherries in all competitions this season, scoring two goals, which both came in the Premier League.
In other news, United have added a Chelsea-linked striker to their summer shortlist.
