Maxwel Cornet has never settled into life at West Ham, with his career at the London Stadium all but over already.
The Ivory Coast international joined the Hammers from Burnley in the summer of 2022, having excelled for the Lancashire side despite their relegation from the Premier League.
However, Cornet scored just one goal in 37 West Ham appearances before joining Southampton on loan at the start of the current campaign.
The winger failed to make an impact for a Southampton side who are now staring relegation in the face, but he has notched two goals and one assist in just six Genoa appearances after joining the Italian club in January.

Genoa are set to negotiate with West Ham for Cornet
Genoa have been in good form since Cornet’s arrival, and have now lost just one of their last six games in the Italian top-flight.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES
Cornet has already been a good asset for Patrick Vieira’s side, while Italian outlet Tutto Mercato [19 March] have reported that Genoa will discuss the winger’s future with West Ham at the end of the season.
The former Burnley man scored for Vieira’s men in their 2-0 win over Venezia last month, as well as their 1-1 draw with Cagliari on 7 March.

Potter could be in for a busy summer transfer window
West Ham supporters would not be sad to see the back of Cornet this summer, given the fact that he has struggled to meet expectations at the London Stadium.
But facilitating the wideman’s exit could be just one of several pieces of business Hammers boss Potter will need to conduct during the summer transfer window.
Creative star Lucas Paqueta could be set for a lifetime ban from football amid serious betting allegations and would need to be replaced, with his trial starting this week.
Furthermore, the Hammers currently boast a misfiring attack who have notched just 33 goals in 29 Premier League fixtures, as Niclas Fullkrug has failed to deliver the sort of impact the London Stadium side would have expected after signing him from Borussia Dortmund last summer.
Meanwhile, long-serving striker Michail Antonio is still recovering after being injured in a car crash, and West Ham have set their sights on a potential deal for ex-Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham.
Plenty of change is coming this summer, and fans would be mistaken if they don’t even realise that Cornet leaves if a deal is agreed upon.
