Manchester City are keen to strengthen in the summer as they aim to contend for the Premier League again next season.

Manchester City will be looking ahead to the summer transfer window in order to improve their squad after what has been a disappointing year in the Premier League for Pep Guardiola’s side.

They look set to make a splash in the summer transfer window, as they aim to catch up to the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool and challenge for the Premier League title next season.

Guardiola looks likely to sign a right-back in order to replace Kyle Walker, who is currently on loan at AC Milan. Whereas, City will also want to add more talent in attack to provide more goals alongside Erling Haaland.

City target Crystal Palace defender

It looks almost certain that Walker is due to leave the Etihad in the summer transfer window, as the 34-year-old fell out of favour at City this season. He left to join AC Milan on loan and will most likely see a permanent transfer away from City in the summer.

With that in mind, City will be drawing up a list of potential replacements for the England international.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Man City have set their sights on Crystal Palace right-back Daniel Munoz, who is having a career year for Oliver Glasner’s side this season.

The Columbian has made 27 Premier League appearances for Palace this season, scoring three goals and providing four assists. He has been one of the best attacking right-backs in the league.

The report says that City could offer a fee in the region of £25m-£33m to land the defender. It also states that the 28-year-old has also attracted the interest of Chelsea, Barcelona and Bayern Munich, which could spark a bidding war in the transfer window.

Bundesliga star rejects move to City

Alongside the defence, City are also keen to improve their depth up front. Guardiola is keen to add players that can help to create chances for the likes of Haaland and Omar Marmoush in attack.

The Cityzens have been linked to Bayer Leverkusen attacker Florian Wirtz, but according to Fichajes, the interest from City doesn’t look like it will be able to tempt the attacker to a Premier League move.

The report says that Wirtz’s next destination will be in the Bundesliga, whether that means he stays at Leverkusen or moves elsewhere, it has become clear that he won’t leave the German club in order to join Guardiola’s squad up front.

It comes as a big blow for City as Wirtz is a huge attacking threat. He’s scored 15 goals and provided 13 assists for Leverkusen in 39 appearances this season. It was said that the 21-year-old could be a long-term replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season with the Belgian now at the age of 33.

For your next City read, a transfer deal between Man City and Leeds United for a summer move now looks unlikely.
