West Ham are already drawing up a list of targets ahead of the summer transfer window.

The current campaign is fizzling out to nothing for West Ham, who will want to avoid a repeat of that next season.

However, in order to do that, the Irons will need to make several decisions on the recruitment front, with a handful of West Ham players expected to leave.

Signing a striker will likely be the priority for West Ham, though other additions will be just as necessary, amid links to a player embroiled in a relegation battle this season.

Rayan Ait-Nouri of interest to West Ham

Oliver Scarles has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at the London Stadium, though it appears as though the Hammers are keen to strengthen in that area amid links to Wolves’ Rayan Ait-Nouri [africafoot].

The report (18 March) states that West Ham are “interested” in signing the Algerian international, though face competition from other clubs in the Premier League.

Ait-Nouri is an attacking full-back.

With Emerson potentially on his way out this summer, the addition of a left-back will be crucial, and there will be very few better options, if any at all, than Ait-Nouri, who has had an excellent campaign with Wolve despite their struggles.

Of course, unless Wolves somehow end up being relegated, it’s unlikely he will come cheap, though if the Hammers want to improve the quality in their starting 11, they will need to stump up the cash in instances like this.

His ability has rarely gone unnoticed, with Jamie Carragher referring to him as a “real quality player” prior to their clash with Liverpool earlier in the season [Sky Sports, 18 February].

Ait-Nouri would be perfect for West Ham

With Graham Potter utilising a back five, Ait-Nouri suits that system perfectly, and if the Irons can complete a deal, it would be a massive signing and a huge statement of intent.

Potter has the foundations of a squad capable of challenging for Europe, though quality additions will be needed in the summer, and this one would fit the bill.
