Cowboys’ Amari Cooper Reunion A 3-Team Gossip Item

FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys are still in need of a starting-caliber wide receiver next to CeeDee Lamb, but their options are slim.

The first major wave of free agency has come and gone, but the Cowboys have left themselves empty-handed when it comes to "name'' wideouts, with many top-level receivers finding new homes elsewhere.

Former second-rounder Parris Campbell is the only "outside'' free agent receiver Dallas has signed so far.

At the moment, the window of availability may be closing quickly when it comes to those aforementioned "name''-level guys.

Keenan Allen? Stefon Diggs

A familiar name that has circulated in Cowboys rumors and still does not have a new contract is Amari Cooper.

To be clear, there is no indication that Dallas wants to chase Amari again; it's largely a Cowboys Nation-driven idea.

The only thing ... another familiar team is rumored to want in on the action, too.

Cooper starred in Dallas for four seasons from 2018-2021 before playing on the Cleveland Browns from 2022-2024. ... having been dumped from The Star largely due to ... well ... shrinkage. (See below.)

The five-time Pro Bowler last played the second half of 2024 with the Buffalo Bills after a midseason trade. He is now a free agent this offseason.

Cleveland, the team Cooper started with last season, may want to rekindle after their midseason breakup. ... if the gossip is correct.

The Browns are in most need of a quarterback, where critics believe they may select Colorado's Shedeur Sanders with the No. 2 overall pick in next month's draft.

Another need on offense is a proven receiver alongside Jerry Jeudy.

The Dawg Pound Daily has mentioned a few names to keep an eye on, with Cooper being one of them. The Cowboys' Brandin Cooks - who just had his number in Dallas given away - was on the list too.

"Whether Cooper would be interested in a reunion is debatable. His production in Cleveland however is not," Dante Walker wrote.

He combined for 2,410 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns his first two seasons in Cleveland.

After a rough start to 2024, Cooper was traded to Buffalo and performed even more poorly, essentially averaging two catches per game.

So Bills Mafia? They'll pass.

The Browns? They have a limited spending budget this free agency, which assumes they may not make a strong push for the reunion.

Dallas has plenty of money to work with, so ... how desperate is "America's Team'' to offer Amari a mulligan here?

Cooper, 30, will be out to prove if he can still make an impact in the NFL.

Whether any of his former teams believe he can is another story.
