It is approaching a year since Crysencio Summerville joined West Ham United from Leeds United for an initial fee of £25m – but now, he could be about to end his old side’s chances of winning £4m.
Since winning the Championship Player of the Season trophy with Leeds in 2023-24, Summerville has struggled at West Ham. Just 22 appearances for the Hammers, scoring only one goal following the move.
Leeds had to make sales after failing to get promoted and Summerville was sold, alongside Georginio Rutter and Archie Gray. But Gray is closing in on 40 Spurs outings and Rutter has been super for Brighton.
Summerville has failed to win a place in the side on a consistent basis and has suffered a few knocks and injuries along the way. As things stand, West Ham have not got value for money with Summerville.

West Ham agreed £9m in add-ons on top of Summerville fee
West Ham paid £25m for Summerville, the same fee that Leeds spent to land Brenden Aaronson from Salzburg two years earlier. But, Leeds could be owed a further £9m more in add-ons by West Ham.
Indeed, West Ham agreed to pay £9m more. Of that £9m, £5m is due to Leeds if certain performance-related add-ons are met during his time at West Ham. As things stand, that is unlikely given his season.
The other £4m in add-ons would be due to Leeds when Summerville wins his first Netherlands call-up. However, Summerville could be about to end Leeds’ chances of winning that £4m fee as per reports.

Summerville could be about to choose a different country
Summerville could actually choose to play for Suriname alongside Leeds star Joel Piroe, with the manager of the Suriname side approaching both Summerville and Piroe to change allegiance and choose them.

Whether that materialises remains to be seen. Summerville has represented the Netherlands at most age groups, but the chances of a Netherlands cap seem unlikely at this stage given his form for West Ham.
If he does choose Suriname and plays for them competitively, then it means Leeds will not be in receipt of a £4m add-on promised to them by West Ham following Summerville’s move to the London Stadium.
