Rodney Peete thinks he did the right thing, but Max Muncy might not be so sure.

Peete, a former NFL quarterback, was even wearing Los Angeles Dodgers merchandise when he reached out and grabbed a foul ball earlier this week as Dodgers player Max Muncy tried to make the catch.

Muncy didn’t look thrilled that Peete made the play in the Tokyo Dome in front of the third baseman.

The Dodgers won the game anyway against the Chicago Cubs.

Actress Holly Robinson-Peete said her husband was just protecting her. She wrote on Instagram the ball was coming right for her head.

“What had happened wassss those foul balls were coming at us left and right in that section,” Robinson Peete said in the post.

“Head on a swivel That’s why they gave us helmets and gloves just in case!! That thing was coming straight for my head!!! My former QB (thrice mlb drafted 3rd baseman) might be retired but what he’s not gonna do is let me get hit Sorry Max! o’o’ The CYE music took me OUT o’ox#o’ #tokyoseries #DodgersWin”

Peete told Los Angeles sports station AM570 that he was “protecting my wife.”

He spent 15 seasons in the NFL after being a Heisman Trophy runner-up and was also drafted four times in the Major League Baseball draft, though he stuck with football.

Ironically, their son RJ is a clubhouse attendant with the Dodgers and has been working for the team for nearly a decade.

The duo joked that the Dodgers wouldn’t invite them to future games, though that seems unlikely.
