Chelsea striker transfer prediction made after double announcement

Chelsea could reportedly move for either Liam Delap or Benjamin Sesko to bolster their attacking ranks this summer.

The Blues have signed the likes of Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku, Jadon Sancho and Marc Guiu in recent seasons, but none of the quartet have truly delivered since arriving at Stamford Bridge.

Now, The Athletic's David Ornstein is reporting that the Blues have their eyes on several attacking players ahead of what is expected to be another busy summer in West London.

Ornstein has named Ipswich's Delap and RB Leipzig's Sesko as players who are "in the mix" to become Chelsea's latest big-money attack.

Writing in The Athletic on Thursday, Ornstein said: "Talking of forward, as you point out they want a striker this summer. It's has been pretty well documented by me and others that they are in the mix for the likes of Sesko and Delap.

"There will be others on their list, too, of course.

"A lot of work is already taking place, as seen with the Sporting deals, and that will include in the No.9 department - even if it takes a bit longer to materialise.

"Who will they get? I have no idea right now, but I'll endeavour to find out as and when it develops."

Former Manchester City striker Delap has enjoyed a fine debut season in the Premier League with Ipswich Town this term, firing ten goals in 28 games.

Sesko, meanwhile, has scored 35 goals in 78 games since joining RB Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg in 2023.

On Thursday, Sporting CP confirmed that Chelsea have agreed deals to sign Geovany Quenda and Dario Essugo.

Maresca has had to deal with injuries to Jackson and Guiu and insisted that he had no regrets about a lack of a striker transfer in January.

"I said after the West Ham game that the things that we planned in terms of players that had the desire to leave and the players that we need," Maresca said.

"In the end, I think we did all of the things we needed. Before the last game, we had two strikers, Nico and Marc.

"Sometimes we adapt also Christo (Nkunku) there, but in case both of them are out, we are going to find a different solution."
