Pittsburgh Steelers very interested in athletic player with Mike Tomlin ties

The Pittsburgh Steelers are interested in William and Mary offensive lineman Charles Grant. According to Alex Kozora of Steelers Depot, assistant offensive line Isaac Williams is in attendance for his pro day.

Grant did not participate in the Senior Bowl or NFL Combine after recovering from an injury. However, he is expected to be an early day three pick, and the Steelers need offensive tackle depth. That could give the Steelers a young player behind Troy Fautanu and Broderick Jones.

The Steelers had a formal meeting with Grant at the NFL Combine. That started a chain of interest that could see the team targeting an offensive lineman earlier than people think in the class.

For a few reasons, it is an interesting player for the Steelers to zero in on. William and Mary is Mike Tomlin’s alma mater, and it is not often that a player is at the NFL Combine from William and Mary.

He is likely to stick at offensive tackle, standing at 6-foot-4, 300 pounds. All in all, Grant is a fascinating prospect the Steelers could circle the wagons on as an athletic people mover, and the Tomlin connection makes him all the more interesting as a sleeper target that most people are not talking about.
