Former Aston Villa defender Richard Dunne has thrown his weight behind his old club securing the services of Marcus Rashford on a full-time basis in the summer - suggesting the Manchester United loanee offers more bang for the club's buck than Marco Asensio.
The 27-year-old has breathed new life into his Premier League career after departing from United in January for a temporary stint at Villa Park until the end of the season.
Rashford's impressive tally includes nine appearances for Villa in various competitions, such as the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup, and has contributed four assists in that time.

This resurgence in form has seen Rashford earn a spot in the England squad for the first time since March 2024.
Dunne is now advocating for Villa to prioritise Rashford's permanent transfer over that of fellow temporary teammate Marco Asensio, reports the Manchester Evening News.
"Marcus Rashford is unbelievably talented and has been a great loan signing for Aston Villa so far, as has Marco Asensio," Dunne expressed to William Hill Vegas.
"They are two players who, for long periods of their careers, have gone missing and not quite achieved the heights you'd expect from them.
"When it comes down to it in the summer, at the end of their loan spells, Villa may have to pick one of them, and the money may be an issue in terms of signing both permanently.
"If you look at it, Rashford knows the Premier League and will withstand the physicality of it.
"He can also play in a number of positions and is arguably more versatile.
"If Villa are confident they're getting the best version of Rashford, I'd probably go with him permanently."
Rashford still has three years left on his current contract at United.
His United career looks all-but over after falling out of favour with Old Trafford boss Ruben Amorim before leaving for Villa in January.
