Report: West Ham Remain in Talks for Celtic Striker

Celtic B striker Daniel Cummings remains in discussions with West Ham United, with the youngster yet to agree on a new contract at Celtic Park. His current deal is set to expire in the summer, and with interest from the Premier League side intensifying, his future remains uncertain.

West Ham’s Ongoing Pursuit

According to Claret and Hugh, West Ham sporting director Mark Noble has been in negotiations with Cummings and his representatives since last month. Their sources claim that talks are still ongoing as the Hammers push to secure the highly-rated Scottish youth international.

West Ham have reportedly made a strong case to lure Cummings to the London Stadium, offering him the chance to be part of their first-team squad next season. Manager Graham Potter and Noble are said to have assured the 18-year-old that he will be involved with the senior setup if he commits to the club.

Celtic’s Stand and Cummings’ Rise

Cummings has caught the attention of scouts due to his performances with Celtic’s B team and his contributions in the UEFA Youth League. His development has been closely monitored, and his attacking potential has not gone unnoticed by clubs beyond Scotland.

West Ham initially attempted to sign Cummings during the winter transfer window, submitting a £500,000 bid. However, Celtic rejected the offer, showing their hope to retain the promising forward.

Pre-Contract Offer and Compensation

With Cummings’ contract set to run out in the summer, West Ham have now moved to sign him on a pre-contract. This would allow Graham Potter’s side to sign him without paying a transfer fee, though Celtic would still be entitled to a training compensation fee, reportedly around £350,000.

For Celtic, the potential departure of Cummings would be a blow to the youth setup, particularly given the investment in developing young players. However, with contract talks stalling, the prospect of losing him to the Premier League remains very real.
