North Korea successfully tested a “new-generation” air defense missile system on Thursday, according to state media, as U.S. and South Korean forcesconcluded their 10-day Freedom Shield military exercises.
The test launch, overseen by the country’s Missile General Bureau, was specifically designed to evaluate the weapon system’s comprehensive combat capabilities, state newspaperRodong Sinmun reported Friday. The missile system recently transitioned from development to full-scale production at an undisclosed military-industrial facility, the report added.
