Spain manager Luis de la Fuente offered an update on Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi after Thursday’s 2-2 draw with the Netherlands in the Nations League.

De la Fuente was asked about Cubarsi after the game and insisted the injury was not too bad and that he’ll stay with the Spain squad.
> “Cubarsi only has a small sprain. We hope and want him to be with us on Sunday. In principle, it does not seem serious and we have to monitor him, but of course we will not risk anything,” he told reporters.
Yet Spain subequently announced that Mario Gila is being called up, suggesting Cubarsi may not play again over the international break.
Barcelona will now be sweating on the youngster’s future, particularly with Inigo Martinez currently sidelined with a knock and Osasuna up next on Thursday.
