Manchester United return to Premier League action when the international break is over

Manchester United won 3-0 away at Leicester City in their last Premier League outing. Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes got their goals against the Foxes at the King Power Stadium as they secured all three points against Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side.

Ruben Amorim’s men are back in action on Tuesday 1st April with a tricky trip to the City Ground to lock horns with Nottingham Forest as they look to build some momentum. Their upcoming opponents are in the top four and are eyeing a place in the Champions League against the odds.

The Red Devils find themselves down in 13th place in the table after an underwhelming season. They have nine fixtures left to play before they can fully start preparing for the summer.

Manchester United eyeing move for Felix Nmecha

According to German news outlet Bild, Borussia Dortmund’s £40m-rated midfielder Felix Nmecha is ‘suddenly’ being chased by United ahead of the next transfer window. He is being linked with a switch to Old Trafford later this year as Amorim hunts for some new faces to bolster his ranks.

Nmecha, 24, could be seen by the Red Devils as someone to add more competition and depth to their midfield department. With the likes of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen not getting any younger, they could do with injecting some fresh blood into that particular area of the pitch.

The Hamburg-born man, who is a Germany international with three caps under his belt so far in his career, has been on the books at Dortmund since 2023. He has made 56 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga giants to date, 27 of which have come in this campaign, and he has scored five goals.

His contract expires in June 2028 meaning he still has three years left on his deal. That means that his current club are under no pressure to sell him anytime soon and can wait for the right offer to come in for his signature if they are to consider letting him go.

Where would Felix Nmecha fit in at Manchester United?

First of all, the main thing Nmecha would offer to United is pace and power in the middle of the park. They are lacking that bit of bite in their starting XI and he could offer them something different to call upon.

He is an energetic player who likes to use his pace and power to cause his opponents problem. He is still relatively young and has potential to get better too.

Nmecha knows England already which is useful as it probably wouldn’t take him too long to adapt if he returned to Manchester. That is because he played for Manchester City from 2007 to 2021 and rose up through the academy at the Etihad Stadium.

He was a regular for City at various different youth levels and played twice for their first-team as a youngster. He was then sold to Wolfsburg and scored three goals in 50 matches before Dortmund swooped in.
