Barcelona waved goodbye to [Unai Hernandez in the January transfer window](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2025/2/4/24358739/barcelona-chiefs-unhappy-at-unai-hernandezs-departure-for-al-ittihad) and now look set to lose another talented youngster.
According to Marca, Pau Prim is in “very advanced talks” with Al Sadd and is expected to finalise a deal to the Qatari club on a free transfer.
Prim has not been able to reach an agreement with Barcelona over an extension, meaning he now looks set to walk away in the summer.
The problem seems to be that Prim sees no clear pathway into the first team at present due to the amount of quality midfielders Hansi Flick has at his disposal.
Prim knows that with Pedri, De Jong, Gavi, Marca Casadó, Fermín Lopez and Marc Bernal around, breaking into the senior squad is a really tough ask.
The midfielder had [previously been tipped to be a potential successor](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2023/7/21/23802685/xavi-decides-barcelona-teen-is-his-chosen-one-to-succeed-sergio-busquets) to Sergio Busquets at Barca but it simply hasn’t worked out that way and a new challenge in the Middle East awaits.
