Trailer accident causes 2-hour snarl, disrupts morning traffic along Balestier Road

SINGAPORE – A trailer truck accident along Balestier Road caused a traffic snarl for over two hours from 9am on March 21, after a silo tank it was carrying became detached.

When The Straits Times arrived at the scene at about 10am, two of the three belts securing the tank onto the trailer bed were seen to have been snapped. One end of the cylindrical tank was laying on the sidewalk.

The driver of the prime mover, who gave his name only as Mr Thilip, said that the accident occurred as he was making a turn at the junction between Kim Keat Road and Balestier Road.

Two of the three lanes on Balestier Road, towards Thomson Road, were closed for about two hours as Traffic Police managed the slow-moving traffic.
