Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry exited Thursday's game against the Toronto Raptors after taking a hard spill and did not return.
Curry attacked the rim, dishing a pass to the perimeter just before two defenders converged on him. The two-time MVP crashed hard to the floor, instantly clutching at his lower back. He grimaced in pain, writhing for several moments before trainers rushed to his side. After being helped to his feet, he made his way straight to the locker room.
The Warriors officially announced Curry's injury and status following the scare.
"Stephen Curry (pelvic contusion) will not return to tonight's game," a post from the team's official account said.
The injury comes after Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said he was giving Curry a night off due to mental exhaustion earlier in the week.
"The last three games I think he's been tired, but it's more of a mental and emotional fatigue than physical," Kerr said. "He's fine physically. When he's emotionally tired, it affects his decision-making. He's a little bit out of sorts.
"We've got lots of experience with Steph. We know him well. He just needs a night off once in a while. He's for sure earned it."
Curry had 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting before the injury against the Raptors. He's averaging 24.3 points this season.
