Warriors’ Steve Kerr Announces Steph Curry Injury News After Raptors Game

The Golden State Warriors secured a 117-114 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Thursday night, maintaining their hold on the Western Conference's sixth seed. While the win was a big one for Golden State, the game's biggest story was Steph Curry and the injury he suffered.

Returning to the lineup after a one-game absence, Curry fell hard on his back during the third quarter and walked slowly to the locker room. This already concerning development was intensified by the fact that Curry has been dealing with back issues recently (via Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN).

Shortly after Curry left the game, the Warriors announced he had suffered a pelvic contusion and would not return.

Following the game, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr announced Curry is undergoing an MRI.

"He is getting an MRI right now," Kerr announced. "Just kinda fell on his pelvic, tailbone area. So he was trying to come back. He though he might be able to come back. We just decided not to risk anything. Hopefully it's not bad."

The news that Curry felt good enough to consider returning to the game is encouraging, but nothing concrete will be revealed until the MRI results are in.

With 12 games remaining in the regular season, Golden State will need Curry healthy to maintain its spot above the Western Conference Play-In Tournament. With the win on Thursday, Golden State is 1.5 games above the seventh seed Los Angeles Clippers who have won four straight contests.

Finishing with 17 points in 25 minutes on Thursday, Curry is now averaging 24.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 6.0 assists in 60 games this season.
